The guide covers gender identity, expression and gender transition and aims to guide on how best to support people who may be on the spectrum of gender identity or going through gender transition.

Unity, EY’s employee network for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people developed the guide along with Stonewall, trans*formation, GLEN (Gay + Lesbian Equality Network) and TENI (Transgender Equality Network Ireland).

According to EY, the guide will educate, raise awareness and provide advice on how to support those who are going through gender transition.

Maggie Stilwell, managing partner for talent at EY, said, “When a person works in an inclusive workplace they have the best opportunity to reach their full potential.

“The guide helps to empower our people to express their individual gender identities with confidence and is another milestone on our mission to be the most inclusive organisation to work for.”

Stilwell said the application of the guide is flexible, as the gender transition is a “very personal journey” and differs from person to person.

The firm’s network Unity has more than 1,700 members across 90 locations worldwide and works along other EY’s professional networks.

The Big Four firm was named a “star performer” in the Stonewall list thanks to its work with the charity on pioneering initiatives and launching global campaigns.
