Lee appointed as ICAEW China director

James Lee is the ICAEW’s new Greater China regional director

As such he is responsible for supporting the Chinese accountancy profession and ICAEW working in the area, as well as raising awareness of chartered accountancy as a career choice.

An institute member, he started his career as an officer in the Royal Malaysian Air Force, before qualifying as an institute member with PwC in London.

He has worked in Australia and New Zealand as well as China and the UK, specialising on corporate risk management.

Most recently, he was managing director of international security specialists G4S North and East China.

Lee says that it is a very exciting time to be taking on the role.

"The accountancy profession in China is developing quickly, in line with China’s strong economy and the exponential growth of China’s investments overseas," he says.

"There is a growing demand for Chinese finance professionals with knowledge of international business practices and standards."
