ICAEW journals and magazines

Information on the collection of ICAEW journals and magazines held by the Library & Information Service, including Economia and Accountancy magazine.

The ICAEW Library holds a collection of journals and magazines that have been used to help keep members up to date with developments in the profession. These include Accountancy magazine (1958-2012) and Economia (2012-2019).

Insights

Since 2020 there has been a new programme of ICAEW member communications, which includes daily, weekly and monthly e-bulletins to provide members and the wider profession with an overview of the latest developments in finance and accountancy. To find out more, visit our Insights hub.

Quarterly (2020)

As part of the Insights programme four editions of a quarterly magazine called Quarterly were issued in 2020 in print and digital formats (as a pdf and in content available through ICAEW.com). The last printed/pdf edition of Quarterly was released in Q4 2020 (December 2020).

From March 2021, longer form articles that previously would have appeared in the Quarterly magazine have been incorporated into the Specials section of Insights, where they are arranged according to theme. You can still subscribe to the Quarterly email which consolidates news of the different specials published over the preceding three months into a single mailshot.

Economia

In February 2012 ICAEW launched a new magazine called Economia to replace Accountancy as the official all-member monthly. The last issue of Economia was published in December 2019/January 2020.

Back issues of Economia

The ICAEW Library holds a complete reference collection of Economia magazine in print and digital formats.

Our library catalogue, LibCat, also includes details of around 500 articles from Economia and can be a useful search tool to help you identify which issue an article was published in.

Archived Economia website

The ICAEW Library has collected a copy of the Economia website as it stood after the final update in December 2019. You can navigate the archived website or use the search box below to find individual articles.

Accounting and Business Research

Accounting and Business Research (ABR) is a renowned generalist accounting research journal that was established by ICAEW in 1970. ICAEW published the journal until 2002. It was subsequently published by Wolters Kluwer / CCH until 2011, when it was taken on by its present publisher, Taylor & Francis.

Despite this change in publisher, ABR has consistently maintained an association with ICAEW, which has supported its work in advancing accounting and business theory and practice. For example, in 2005/06, ABR entered into a collaboration with ICAEW to publish the Institute's PD Leake lectures and the papers presented at its annual Information for Better Markets (IFBM) conferences.
