Verkade new Baker Tilly International CEO

Ted Verkade has been appointed CEO and president of Baker Tilly International

Verkade, unanimously voted in by the board of directors, will succeed Geoff Barnes who will retire from the role in June 2016.

Verkade has been a partner in Baker Tilly Berk, the 8th largest accounting firm in the Netherlands for 20 years, and currently is chairman of its board of directors.

An auditor by profession, he developed the firm’s international audit practice in Amsterdam and headed the firm’s technical department for seven years.

Verdake has been the EMEA regional chairman for Baker Tilly International since 2004 during which period revenues in the region have grown from $651m (£425.3m) to $1.2bn (£784m) and coverage has expanded from 49 to 80 countries.

Verkade said ,“Over the next 12 months, Geoff and I will be working closely together on a transition programme to ensure we deliver the network’s strategic objectives. Under Geoff’s leadership, Baker Tilly International has become a robust global network with high calibre member firms and many talented individuals. I look forward to working with the global office team and our member firms to continue the network’s track record of success”.

Barnes has held the position for the past 16 years. During this time BTI has grown its combined global revenues from $900m (£588m) to $3.6bn (£2.4bn) and its coverage from 59 countries to 133 countries.
