CEO resigns from Dutch arm of Deloitte

The chief executive of Deloitte Netherlands, the Dutch arm of global accountancy firm Deloitte & Touche, has resigned

The firm said in a statement that Peit Hein Meester, 48, was to immediately stand down after violating conflict of interest rules. Deputy CEO Peter Bommel will replace him on an interim basis.

The statement said: “it appeared that there were moments of non-adherence to Deloitte's independence rules with respect to the keeping of financial interest in clients who were being audited."

Meester is understood to have invested in companies where Delotte had the audit contract, although to not have directly been responsible for auditing their cases.
