SFO appeals for witnesses

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has launched an appeal for witnesses as it launches an investigation into a solar panel business

In a statement, the SFO announced a criminal investigation into Solar Energy Savings Ltd, and contracts that it entered into for the supply and fitting of domestic solar panels.

Solar Energy Savings Ltd, which started trading in 2011, achieved a turnover of more than £50m in its first year.

After initial success, the company quickly went insolvent and, in 2012, was found by the Insolvency Service to have engaged in serious misconduct in relation to selling practices.

The SFO said in a statement that it was appealing for information that might be of use, particularly in the north of England and Scotland.
