PwC became administrators of P&H, the UK’s largest delivered wholesaler to UK convenience markets, after the business collapsed last month.
Matthew Callaghan from PwC, co-administrator alongside Ian Green and Zelf Hussein, said that the firm had regretfully been unable to secure a deal despite working closely with directors to pursue a sale.
“We will be working with those being made redundant, as we have with those made redundant previously, to assist and provide support where possible,” Callaghan said.
Mark Todd, national officer for the Usdaw union, told the Guardian that members were devastated over the failed deal, highlighting that the losses come so close to Christmas.
There are about 450 members of staff remaining at P&H to help with the winding down of the company.
