Babington appointed FRC deputy director

An ICAEW member has been appointed deputy director of audit policy at the Financial Reporting Council (FRC)

FCA Mark Babington, who has 20 years of experience including positions at HMRC and the National Audit Office (NAO), will support audit director Marek Grabowski in enhancing public confidence in audit quality and process.

His new position will see him undertake and commission research on audit matters and other assurance engagements, to make sure both areas are performed in the public interest.

“I am delighted to welcome Mark to my team,” Grabowski said.

“His extensive career as an auditor in a broad number of sectors and more recently with the NAO provides an excellent basis for his new role in standard setting, influencing and research which is vital to our role as a regulator and our mission to foster investment”
