KPMG partners move to BDO Eastern Caribbean

The mid-tier firm BDO has expanded its presence in the Eastern Caribbean with the appointment of new partners in Antigua & Barbuda, St Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines

The former KPMG office in Antigua & Barbuda, led by Cleveland Seaforth, joined BDO in April, the firm announced on Tuesday.

In St Lucia, Brenda Duncan, BDO’s managing partner of the region, was joined by Frank Myers, formerly from KPMG. He had been a partner at KPMG since 1994 and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean. He has been the president of the Institute since June 2015 and will step down in June 2017. Myers will now act as the immediate past president for two years.

Duncan said, “This represents an exciting new chapter in our firm's growth and will enable us to continue providing innovative solutions to our clients’ existing challenges, while assisting them in anticipating those of tomorrow.”

The firm said Reuben John would be in charge of the St. Vincent and Grenadines office, joining Arrion Barnwell. John was previously an audit manager of KPMG in Jamaica.

Meanwhile BDO in Anguilla remains with Claudel Romney as lead member.

BDO Eastern Caribbean now covers the territories of Dominica and Grenada, next to Anguilla, St Kitts & Nevis and Montserrat, where BDO was already providing services.

The expanded firm will operate as BDO Eastern Caribbean, with six partners and over 130 staff.

Keith Farlinger, the company's chief executive of the Americas region, said, “We are confident of a cultural fit between the newly joined firms, as well as their clients.

“BDO’s integrated global network is highly regarded for its outstanding service delivery and this enlarged firm is looking forward to building strong relationships with existing and new clients, and continuing to add value to their businesses”.

Earlier this month, the firm announced it had appointed BDO WTS Limited Partnership as a new independent limited firm in Aruba.

The firm, established in 2006, specialises in consumer business and the leisure industry, as well as luxury retail, financial services, public sector and pharmaceuticals.

It has a client list including listed companies and international fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Michael Kors.
