Blair Nimmo has been appointed global head of insolvency at the Big Four firm, effective immediately. Claire Angell has been appointed as UK head of tax. James Riley and David O’Hara have been appointed partner. Meanwhile, Iain McLellan, Kerry Oakes, Claire Whittaker, James Keclik and Laura Higgins have all been appointed director.
Nimmo, a licensed insolvency practitioner and Scottish chartered accountant, has more than 30 years’ experience. He has been with the firm since 1991 and has held multiple roles, including senior partner of the Edinburgh office. Last year, Nimmo was appointed KPMG UK’s head of restructuring, a role he will continue alongside his new global post.
Angell, a specialist in tax regulation within the energy sector, has 14 years’ experience. She joined KPMG in 2003, becoming partner in 2015. Prior to her appointment, she led the firm's oil and gas tax practice. She has won numerous awards for her work and in 2014 was given the Woman of the Future Award. The following year, she won Accountancy Age’s 35 Under 35 Award.
Riley has 18 years’ experience. Prior to his appointment, he was a director in the pensions team, working with some of the largest private sector pension schemes in the UK. Before joining the Big Four firm, Riley spent 11 years working as senior consultant at Towers Watson.
O’Hara has 19 years’ experience. Prior to his appointment, he was director of the investment advisory team, providing leading advisory solutions to the private and public sector. He has previously held roles at Hymans Robertson and Mercer.
Price BaileyGary Bugdale has been appointed director at the financial services group, while Stuart Morton and Lewis Ratcliffe have been appointed as senior managers, effective immediately.
Bugdale has 19 years’ experience and joined the firm upon graduation. He is a key member of the senior management team in Norwich, where he has been able to facilitate successful development for the office through periods of change and rapid growth.
Morton has 16 years’ experience. Prior to his appointment, he was a licensed insolvency practitioner at the firm. He has previously held roles at top ten firm BDO, Lovewell Blake and Larking Gowen.
Ratcliffe, a chartered accountant and ICAEW member, has 11 years’ experience. Prior to his appointment, he was a manager at the firm’s Bishop’s Stortford office. He previously worked for S Cobbin & Co Limited.
Ian Taylor and Rajiv Vadgama have been appointed as partners of the audit, tax and consulting firm, effective immediately. Taylor will become audit partner and Vadgama will become tax partner.
Taylor, a chartered accountant and ICAEW member, has over 10 years’ audit experience. Prior to his appointment, he was a senior manager and later became an associate director at the top 10 firm. He has previously held roles at DEXUS Property Group and BDO in Australia.
Vadgama has 23 years’ experience in the industry, with nearly 15 years being spent with two of the Big Four firms. Prior to his appointment, Vagdama was senior tax manager at PwC and tax manager at Deloitte. He has also held roles at Saffery Champness and Levy Gee.
Helen Gordon has been appointed non-executive director at the property investment and development firm, effective 1 January 2018.
Gordon, a chartered accountant and ICAEW member, is currently the chief executive of Grainger, a role she has held since 2015. Prior to her role at Grainger, she was the global head of real estate asset management at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
She has previously held roles at Legal & General Investment Management, Railtrack and John Laing Developments.

Jan Babiak has been appointed non-executive director at the business and financial magazine publisher, effective immediately.
Babiak, a chartered accountant and ICAEW member, has over 30 years’ experience. Currently, Babiak is the non-executive director at Walgreens Boots Alliance and Bank of Montreal. She has held both positions for five years.
She has previously held non-executive director roles at Royal Mail, Experian and Logica, and was also a managing partner at EY.
