Six of the best meals for Chocolate Week

Forget Brexit and the Budget, this is the event we’ve all be waiting for: National Chocolate Week. But rather than the traditional sweets and desserts to enjoy, we picked some of the best chocolate-themed meals you can try around the UK

Paternoster Chop House – burger

To mark the special occasion, Paternoster is offering an exclusive sugar-laden chocolate burger. It comes complete with ice cream patty, pastry buns, orange icing cheese, white chocolate onion rings and raspberry ketchup. Get in quick though, because this calorific treat is only available until Sunday 21 October.

Rabot 1745 – roast

Britain’s first gourmet chocolate restaurant has been making dishes with cacao from its 250-year-old St Lucia plantation since the Borough Market eatery opened in 2013. We would recommend the cacao nib marinated salt marsh lamb with chocolate demi-glace. If you’re feeling adventurous why not try adding a side of white chocolate mash. As the restaurant itself says, “it shouldn’t work but it does”.

Yo! – sushi

Luxury chocolatier Choc on Choc has teamed up with the sushi chain to create an entirely-chocolate maki roll. Available this week only, the handmade delicacies consist of the finest Belgian white chocolate “rice’ and dark chocolate fillings. They are available from the chain’s Selfridges stores and at £3.80 per serving make for a pretty sweet deal.

Pizza Pilgrims - calzone

Known for its delicious dough, Pizza Pilgrims in Shoreditch has taken dessert pizza to the next level with the “Cazonification”. And what better way to end the week than with a scrummy, chocolate-filled calzone. Well, actually it does get better – you can also bring in your favourite chocolate bar to have the filling personalised. This might just be the melted mouthful to rule them all.

Cocoa Cabana – afternoon tea

Can’t decide which treat to go for? The Manchester-based award-winning boutique chocolatier offers an excellent afternoon tea ensuring you don’t have to choose. An assortment of gourmet sandwiches, cakes and other sweet treats are paired with infused teas and hot chocolate. Everything features Cocao Cabana’s own handmade chocolate, from ganache with panache to the can’t-go-wrong milk chocolate bar.

Rub Smokehouse & Bar – sundae

More than large enough to be a meal in itself, the Kitchen Sink Sundae boasts that it has everything, including the portable sink it’s served in. The American-diner themed bar in Birmingham lets you plough your way through three flavours of ice cream, monster marshmallows, bananas, oreos, homemade brownies, chocolate bars, toffee and blackforest sauce and more. And if you somehow have room for more, you can wash it down with a gourmet milkshake or chocolaty Between Thorns wine.
