Accountant accused of stealing from Cats production company

An accountant who worked for Monumental Pictures, a production company that has worked alongside Universal on the upcoming Cats film, has been accused of stealing £230,000 from his employer

Scott Hiskey yesterday faced charges of fraud by abuse of position at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court, according to the Evening Standard.

The court heard that between April 2016 and October 2018, Hiskey stole £230,116 from Monumental Pictures while working at its offices in Islington.

The production company was launched in 2014 by film producers Alison Owen and Deborah Hayward.

“Monumental Pictures was involved in the production of various TV programmes,” prosecutor Alex Britton said, according to the Evening Standard.

“Each production has its own bank account, and the defendant is alleged to have transferred or siphoned off money to his own personal account,” Britton said.

Hiskey has been named on IMDB as a production accountant on various films and TV shows, including the upcoming How to Build a Girl, Harlots, and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man.

The case has now been sent to Snaresbrook Crown Court for hearing on 16 September and Hiskey has been released on unconditional bail until the hearing.
