UK firm Claritas Tax joins Andersen Global

Andersen Global has snapped up a fourth UK firm in a bid to expand its presence in the country

Claritas, a Birmingham-based tax advisory and compliance services firm, has joined Andersen’s UK network, following the steps of Milestone International Tax Partners, Mark Davies & Associates and RBCVAT.

Ian Wright, managing director at Claritas, is an ICAEW member as well as a Chartered Institute of Taxation member. He was previously a tax director at KPMG and RSM Tenon.

He said, “While a number of my colleagues and I are alumni of the Big Four, the opportunity to widen the scope of our expertise makes Andersen Global a natural fit.

“After having discussions with Mark over the last six months, I recognised that we share a common commitment to providing best-in-class, tailored service to clients in all facets of their tax affairs.”

Meanwhile, Mark Vorsatz, Andersen global chairman and Andersen Tax CEO, said, “Adding a sought-after firm like Claritas is not only a logical extension for Andersen Global, but it broadens our offering in the UK.

“Their practice focuses on corporation tax, R&D tax reliefs, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital in addition to serving individuals.”

Andersen Global was set up in 2013 by Andersen Tax, the US tax practice founded by 23 former Arthur Andersen partners in 2002 in the wake of the demise of the Big Five firm. It currently has 4,000 professionals across 125 locations globally through its member firms and collaborating firms.

In May, Andersen announced that it had established a presence in India for the first time through collaboration agreements with tax practitioners Nangia Advisors and legal firm Vaish Associates.

One month later, it announced tie-ups with BA Tax Accountants in Luxembourg and Lotti e Araujo in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, while its Paris-based member firm STCPartners opted to change its name to Andersen Tax & Legal.

It has also has also formed relationships with firms in Poland, Kenya, Argentina, Portugal, Dubai, Ireland, Egypt, Mexico, Kuwait, Germany, Canada and Spain.
