KPMG launching UK legal consultancy

The Big Four firm is set to launch a new UK legal consultancy this year

It will be part of KPMG’s Legal Operations & Transformation Services (LOTS) offering, which the firm said helps in-house counsel identify “technologies, flexible resources and managed services that can support delivery of legal, regulatory and compliance services.”

KPMG currently offers this service in Australia, Germany and Switzerland. Further details on the UK launch will be announced soon.

The news comes as KPMG announced revenue growth of 30% across all its global legal services, which now employs 2,300 professional, in 2018.

“Our approach is different. We’re not a traditional law firm, and we’re not copying the approach of a traditional law firm. We focus on offering our clients integrated legal advice and technology led solutions and methodologies, in combination with a range of alternative legal managed services, where we work collectively with our clients who are looking for local and multijurisdictional counsel,” said Jürg Birri, KPMG global head of legal services.

It seems KPMG is making a further concerted push into legal services in 2019. Last week France’s largest law practice threatened to sue the firm for poaching 130 of its lawyers. In January it announced the opening of a KPMG affiliated legal practice in Hong Kong, with another set to open in Shanghai later this year.
