A round-up of this week's appointments, promotions, board moves and resignations

Price Bailey

Daphne Hemingway has been appointed VAT partner at mid-tier firm price Bailey, effective from 1 February.

Hemingway has 27 years’ experience in financial services, prior to which she was was a partner at Blick Rothenberg and before that a partner at Jeffreys Henry. She spent more than three years at Big Four firm Deloitte as indirect taxes senior manager and was previously an associate director at Baker Tilly, VAT senior manager at Big Four firm EY and a senior manager at PwC. She also spent more than two years working as a senior VAT consultant at Barclays.

Meanwhile, Michael Cooper-Davis has been appointed as director of the corporate team in the firms City of London office.

Cooper-Davis, ACA, who will work primarily with charities and not-for-profit organisations, has more than 10 years’ experience in the charity sector. Prior to his appointment he was senior charities audit manager at haysmacintyre, where he spent more than six years. He is a fellow Chartered Certified Accountant.

BDO

Mark Cardiff and Fiona Davis have been appointed as partners in the mid-tier firm’s audit team, effective immediately.

Cardiff, ACA, joins from Grant Thornton where he spent more than 20 years. Most recently he was head of commercialisation and practice development and previously head of audit, having become a partner at the firm in 2004.

Davis, a partner in the risk and assurance team, previously spent 19 years at Big Four firm PwC where she was director of risk and assurance services for the London region.

Richard Bartlett-Rawlings has been appointed as an audit partner in the Milton Keynes office of the mid-tier firm, effective immediately.

Bartlett-Rawlings, ACA, has more than 14 years’ experience, having joined from KPMG where he was a director and previously a senior manager. Prior to this he was assistant manager at Big Four firm Deloitte, where he spent more than five years.

Johnston Carmichael

Peter Courtney has been appointed as a new director at Scotland’s largest independent accountancy and advisory firm, effective immediately.

Prior to his appointment, Courtney led HMRC’s international investigations team for large businesses in Scotland and Northern Ireland. His other roles at HMRC included customer relationship manager for FTSE 100 businesses and a competent authority in the transfer pricing team. He has 13 years’ experience as an inspector of taxes and an advanced diploma with distinction in international tax.

Competition and Markets Authority

Cynthia Dubin has been appointed as a non-executive director and Robin Foster, Colleen Keck, Karthik Subramanya, Shrinivas Honap and Maria da Cunha have been appointed as board members at the government watchdog.

Vast Resources

Paul Fletcher has been appointed as CFO of the AIM-listed mining company, effective immediately.

Fletcher, ACA, is a fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. He has more than 25 years experience in the commodity and financial services industries. Prior to his appointment he was global CFO and controller for Bunge Financial Services, a part of US agriculture and food business Bunge. He has previously held senior positions at Cargill, Pepsico Snacks and KPMG.

Shatish Dasani has been appointed as a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee at the engineering services group, effective immediately.

Dasani, ACA, has more than 20 years’ experience in finance. He is currently CFO of Forterra, which he joined in 2015. Prior to this he was CFO at TT Electronics, group financial controller at De La Rue and CFO at Blue Circle South America. Dasani was an assistant manager in audit at KPMG and later an executive consultant at the Big Four firm.
