Deloitte US appoints new CEO and chair

Joseph Ucuzoglu has been elected CEO of Deloitte US, and Janet Foutty elected to the role of chair of the board

Ucuzoglu succeeds Cathy Engelbert and Foutty will replace Mike Fucci, effective 2 June 2019. Both had completed a four-year term.

Ucuzoglu is currently serving as chair and CEO of Deloitte & Touche LLP, as well as sitting on a number of external boards, including the US Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on Deloitte Global’s board of directors.

Looking ahead to his four years of tenure, Ucuzoglu commented, “It is imperative that, as a business community, we project a positive vision of the many benefits that a technology-driven future will have across our society. We are deeply committed to delivering differentiated value and making a positive impact on our clients, our people and our communities.”

Janet Foutty is currently the chair and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP, and serves on Deloitte Global’s board of directors. She is also an author, public speaker, and advocate for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“Leading the Deloitte board is a privilege and I’m grateful for the confidence our partners have placed in me”, said Foutty. “I am committed to ensuring effective, transparent governance while at the same time providing collaborative strategic guidance to Joe and his management team as we strive to further differentiate the value we deliver to the marketplace and fulfil our public interest responsibilities”.

Last week, Sharon Thorne, who is based in the UK and has more than 30 years’ experience as an auditor, became the first woman to be elected Deloitte Global chair.
