KPMG follows with 150 clients, while the April 2015 analysis puts Grant Thornton as third most popular with 144 clients. PwC, Deloitte and EY are ranked fourth, fifth and sixth with 120, 77 and 61 AIM-listed clients respectively.
PwC holds on to its position as the auditor of choice for the top end of the market, having most clients in both the AIM 50 and the AIM 100. The firm gained three AIM 100 clients and one in the AIM 50.
At the lower end of the scale, Saffrey Champness, James Cowper Kreston, Hazlewoods and Adler Shine all entered the overall AIM ranking in twentieth position with four clients each.
On a sector-by-sector basis, Grant Thornton dominated the tech (27), industrials (29) and healthcare (14) clients. BDO held contracts with the most basic materials (31), consumer goods (9) and oil & gas clients. KPMG was the most popular consumer services and financials auditor.
