Former EY partner to chair FRC audit committee

The Financial Reporting Council has appointed Anne Whitaker chair of its Audit Quality Review Committee (AQRC)

Whitaker will also be appointed to the regulator’s Conduct Committee.

A former EY partner with 30 years’ experience as an auditor, Whitaker has also held several non-executive and charity roles, including at Hitachi Capital, Barts Health NHS Trust and the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.

She joined the AQRC in 2016 and will replace David Cannon as chair.

The FRC is being scrapped and replaced with the Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority (ARGA). Former HMRC CEO Sir Jon Thompson is set to take over as chief executive later this year.
